Dragiša Drakić, Ph.D. Full Professor

Born in 1975 in Kotor. Got the Bachelor degree at the Faculty of Law of the University of Novi Sad in 1999, after which he started postgraduate studies at the same Facutly. He obtained Magister of law degree in 2003 by defending the thessis „Security Measures Compulsory Psychiatric Treatment in Yugoslavian Criminal Law“. Members of the Commission were: Prof. Stanko Pihler, full professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad (mentor), prof. Momčilo Grubač, full professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad, prof. Ištvan Feješ, associate professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad and prof. Aleksandar Knežević, full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Novi Sad. He hodls Ph.D. degree since 2006, when he defended his doctoral dissertation „Mental Incompetence“ (Unaccountability – Neuračunljivost). The Commission was composed of: Prof. Stanko Pihler, full professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad (mentor), prof. Ištvan Feješ, associate professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad and prof. Aleksandar Knežević and full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Novi Sad.

In a period from June 1999 until the end of May 2000, he worked as legal trainee in the Municipal Court in Novi Sad. He became a teaching assistant at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad in 2000. By the decision of the Electoral Council, in March 2004, he was elected for an assistant for Criminal Law. He was chosen for an assistant professor in May 2007, by the Senate of the University of Novi Sad. The samo body elected him for an associate professor in March 2012. In a period between October 1st 2008 and September 30th 2011 he was serving as Vice-Dean for study affairs. His term as a Chief of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology took place from September 16th 2011 to November 13th 2014.

He was Editor in chief of the journal Collected Papers of the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad. Starting with the issue 1/2015, he became a member of Editorial Board of the scientific journal Facta Universitatis (Law and Politics) of the University of Niš. As a Vice-Dean for study affairs, he participated in work of the Scholarly and Academic Council, Senate, and Publishing Centre of the Faculty, as well as in the work of the Senate of the University of Novi Sad. He is, also, a member of the Commission for Quality Assurance and Improvemnet of Quality and a member of Council of Ph.D. studies – Public Law, at the Law Faculty of the University of Novi Sad.

As a holder of the Coimbra Group Hospitality Scheme scholarship, he attended one month long expert course at the Law Faculty of the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena (Germany). During his last electoral period, after which he has been elected for a full professor, he has published, as author or co-author, 27 scientific papers (among which - 17 papers have been published in scientific journals, 4 papers in special issues of international journals, 3 papers presented at international conferences, an abstract presented at international conference, as well as 2 papers presented at national conferences) and 2 monographies. (Generally, from the beginning of his academic career at the Faculty, he has published about 60 scientific papers (including collected papers of scientific conferences), five books and a chapter in a book. He has held two lectures by invitation (one of which has been partially published).   
He has been mentor of a high number of LL.M. candidates, mentor of two defended doctoral dissertations, as well as a member of relevant commissions for LL.M. and Ph.D. thesis. He has been engaged by five scientific journals as a reviewer of a higher number of papers and five books.     He has participated in 10 commissions for election of professor or assistant, at four universities. As a associate professor, he has introduced a new subject ‘Compulsory Treatment of Psychiatric Character’, and provided the adequate literature for preparation of the mentioned exam. On bachelor studies he gives lectures in Criminal Law (on both study programs, General legal studies and Internal affair studies. On master studies he holds two subjects – Unaccountability in Criminal Law and Compulsory Treatment of Psychiatric Character, while on Ph.D. studies he teaches Criminal Law – deepened course (selected topics) – (in that regard, as an assistant professor he has published a book ‘Theory of Criminal Law – selected topics, which is listed as additional literature for preparation of the mentioned exam on Ph.D. studies).

He attended a dozen of international scientific conferences.

In 2010 he conducted an expertise visit at the Law Faculty of the University of Ljubljana and at the Law Faculty of the University of Passau. He is engaged in three projects of scientific research (one of which is international). He was, also, on study improvements at the University of Passau, Germany (2003), Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany (2004) as well as an the Univeristy Friedrich-Schiller in Jena, Germany (2004) as a scholarship holder of Coimbra Group Hospitality Scheme. He is fluent in German language, on the basis of which he writes his scientific papers. He has basic knowledge of English language.

He is the author of 4 books and more than 50 scientific papers.
